HOACS

HOACS is a New York City born and based graffiti writer, muralist, and contemporary artist. As he grew up in Queens, he was fascinated by the vibrant and rebellious graffiti that permeated his environment.  In the late 1990s, his adoration for the sprawling public artwork led Hoacs to spend his adolescence studying the famous artists of his time. Hoacs rapidly developed his own sense of style, made up of aggressive lettering, vibrant colors, deep dimension, and characters. In the decades since, his work naturally evolved from tagging and quick pieces to the production of high quality, widely recognized murals around the world.  His hard work, attention to detail, and unrelenting dedication to his practice continues to draw opportunities for collaborations with large global corporations like Adidas and SprayPlanet/Montana Colors.

In recent shows, such as his solo show “No Days Off” at Eden Fine Art in New York City or his show at Panama’s Instituto Nacional de Cultura (I.N.A.C.) in 2019, Hoacs’ artwork continues to demonstrate his success in incorporating his vivacious and meticulous street style into his fine artwork.

Aside from being recognized for his fine artwork, Hoacs remains one of the most active graffiti writers in New York City and has curated his own area in Bushwick, Brooklyn where he recruits international and local artists of the highest caliber to paint outdoors. This project provides both an opportunity for artists to create work and an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy public artwork by world renown artists.
